The time is finally upon us, the weather is warming, the ground is softening, and the birds have returned with their spring songs! As mentioned in the past, we had planned- loosely- to begin the build in the spring. We were hoping that would mean March, but if there is one thing I have learned about construction of any sort- it never stays to the timeline. After three long months I am finally out of my cast, and having trouble with my wrist.
Despite the fact that Old Man Winter has decided to hang around and the gimpy wrist- we are happy to report little steps of progress!
Two weekends ago we cut the metal pieces off the trailer that would interfere with the subfloor. Last weekend we took the trailer off the cement blocks and ordered the 6 ton jacks that will be used to hold the trailer up during construction. We also scouted out the best place for a time lapse camera. This weekend we will hopefully mount the time lapse camera and also gather the insulation needed for the subfloor.
Thanks to this weather, my Dad's backyard is still soft and mushy which is holding us back from repositioning the trailer for the build. No matter! We will just keep working towards what we CAN do.
Next up on the list? A detailed sketch of the framing for the subfloor and then the walls. Things are happeninnnngg!!
